My cousin was so enraged when she was terminated wrongly by her new boss. After learning that she was two months pregnant, her new boss thought that her work performance would be significantly less productive. It is a good thing that my cousin is not ignorant with the provisions of the California Employment Law. She knows her rights and obligations as an employee including everything that surrounds it. The State and Federal laws proscribe the termination of an employee by reason of pregnancy. The employer’s contention that my cousin’s performance would be affected by reason of the pregnancy was speculative. As a matter of fact, my cousin was pregnant around two years ago but this did not alter or affect her performance during that time. Her old boss did not terminate her nor even thought of it. Ironically, she was even granted maternity leave with pay. This is clearly a case of termination for a wrong reason. My cousin filed a complaint against his new boss and she now waits for this to be brought to justice.
